Staff at Wigan received an email confirming the deal and announcing the new employer.
The Sun revealed that betting firm K8 was ready to pay £15m to take over Wigan Athletic F.C.
The Asian betting operator, which has betting deals with Manchester City and Cardiff after sponsoring West Brom shirt, is reportedly looking to further invest in English football.
The investment will give the Philippines-based, UK-licensed K8 further exposure, especially if they are successful in taking the Latics back to the Premier League from League One.
K8 boss Vincent Huang was reported to be in the UK to finish the deal.
According to the Vital Latics forum, staff at the football club received an email confirming the deal and announcing the new employer.
